Having work done in your home is never fun. Whether you have made a decision to renovate or you are in the unfortunate position of having a disaster in your house, Blue Tape understand how disruptive it can be and we endeavour to keep it to a minimum. The first thing we do is ensure that you, the client, are kept informed of what is happening at every stage of the project. Here is a guideline of the steps in our process:
As soon as you see the flood, leak, broken wall etc contact your insurance broker. They will then contact us to make an appointment for an assessment.
Once we have received instruction from your broker we will make contact with you to arrange a convenient time for the assessment of damage to be done. A thorough inspection of the site and surrounding areas will be done. We may need access to roof space, ceiling, distribution board or drainage sites to ensure we have full details.
A comprehensive report, along with photographs and recommendations, will be sent to your broker within two days. If necessary we can request authorisation from your broker for emergency repair work to be carried out.
Your broker will submit out report along with his recommendations to your insurance company who will either approve or deny the claim depending on your insurance policy cover. This can take a few days and it is recommended that you follow up with your broker.
If your claim is approved we will contact you. If there is an excess to pay we will send an invoice and once paid we will arrange a start date for the work. We prefer the use of email and Whatsapp platforms for instant communication. If there are any decor choices you have to make we will advise you accordingly.
We will send you a contract of agreement to sign and a scope of works outlining the planned work and timeline.
Once a date has been set our team will arrive at the agreed time. Health and Safety checklists will be completed and work will commence.
Once work is underway we will send you daily updates, along with images. We will be contactable to answer any queries or issues you might have. Our project manager will attend the site daily and our foreman will be on site at all times. Every night we will clean and clear where possible to ensure minimum disruption.
Once the project has been completed we will arrange a sign-off day for our project manager to meet with you to inspect the work. If there are any snags you will have 90 days from sign-off to report them to us and have them dealt with.
In some cases you may decide that you wish extra work to be done. We can include this during the project where possible. The private work will be invoiced directly to you and may require a deposit.
